This workshop is all about getting off the groomed and into the wild; going beyond how to turn and focusing on the tactics that’ll keep you safe and having fun in dynamic terrain. We’ll spend two full days exploring wooded gullies, open bowls, and “hike to” opportunities. In this workshop you’ll learn how to safely navigate trees as a group, manage moguls and steep terrain, identify danger zones, and explore hidden powder stashes.

If you’re looking to explore more of your favorite resorts with confidence this is workshop is a must. This is also a great workshop to attend before going to one of our off-piste tours in Washington, Chile, Argentina, or Japan.

This workshop is designed for the high intermediate to advanced snowboarder who can confidently link turns on easy black groomed terrain. This workshop has a minimum participation of 4 persons to operate.

Thursday

Meet at the Alpine Meadows Lodge at 9am. After a few warm up laps we’ll split into small groups and start exploring. We’ll begin by learning how to ride as a group, utilizing the buddy system so as we go deeper we’re able to support each other. We’ll spend the rest of the bulk of the day exploring a variety of terrain elements; moguls, trees, steeps, etc. taking time to build skills in each environment.

Friday

Meet at  8:30am. This day we’re going to learn how to assess terrain before we get there, identify exit routes, and  make a plan for safe navigation. Once we understand the terrain and a preffered route through each section, we’ll be flowing through it like champions.
