In this second instalment of our “Carving” series we explore a variety of regional styles and their impact to the sport. Our method begins by examining videos of two of the most famous carvers in world of snowboarding Ryan Knapton and Kazunori Hirama (AKA Rama). We’ll break down the where, when, and why to discover HOW, ultimately using their inspiring style to unlock new levels of awesome in our own riding.

If you’re looking to take your carving to steeper terrain -or- simply push the limits of your equipment this workshop is for YOU! This is also a great workshop to attend if you are training for your level 2 or 3 to get you on the path to taking your Ride Exam! Groups will be designed based on ability and experience.

This workshop is designed for the intermediate to advanced snowboarders. This workshop has a minimum participation of 4 persons to operate, if minimum participation is not met within 14 days of the start date you will receive a full refund.

Register 4 or more people on the same reservation and receive a $100 discount!

AASI Certified Instructors receive an additional discount please inquire.

Monday, The Knapton Way

Meet at WILD FLOWER BAKERY in the Palisades Village at 8:30am. Our first day on snow is a deep dive into the style of Ryan Knapton, we’ll start by setting up our boards to simulate the stance Ryan uses, “if you have a WIDE board this is a great opportunity to use it”. From there we’ll take a turn by turn approach starting with the toeside, moving to the heelside, and so on. Eventually flowing between turns natural and switch to unlock the nose and tail rolls that define Ryan’s style. We’ll also take time to capture video so we can understand our individual performance.

Tuesday, The RAMA way

Meet at  8:30am Alpine Meadows. We’re taking the same approach as the previous day with different inspiration and a different canvas. After the lifts close we’ll head back to the lodge for a final debrief and celebration!
