Monday, Fundamentals of Carving (The Inclination Angulation Equation)

Meet at WILD FLOWER BAKERY in the Palisades Village at 8:30am. Our first day on snow is a deep dive into the physics behind carving, we’ll explore the balance between; inclination, angulation, board design, speed, surface, space, etc. to gain a deeper understanding of how carving actually works and why it is so FUN! On this day we’ll take a regimented approach highlighting specific phases of the turn so we can focus our lens on the details.  Once the lifts close we’ll move indoors for a video recap of your personal performance. This will be a long day do you’ll need to prepare yourself to be at the mountain till 5:30pm.

Tuesday, External forces and Flow (Harmonizing with the mountain)

Meet at  8:30am Alpine Meadows. We’ll start the day off revisiting some of the insights from the previous day’s video review session, then we’ll broaden our focus to overall line choice. We’ll learn how to “read a run”… we’ll catalogue changes in contour and snow surface, giving us the info we need so we can place turn transitions and shape our carves in a way that is complimentary to the mountain, leading to an overall elegant line. After the lifts close we’ll head back into the lodge for a final debrief and celebration!
