This workshop is all about getting off the groomed and into the wild; going beyond how to turn and focusing on the tactics that’ll keep you safe and having fun in dynamic terrain. We’ll spend two full days exploring wooded gullies, open bowls, and “hike to” opportunities at Palisades Tahoe. In this workshop you’ll learn how to safely navigate trees as a group, manage moguls and steep terrain, identify danger zones, and explore hidden powder stashes.

If you’re looking to explore more of your favorite resorts with confidence this workshop is a must. This is also a great workshop to attend before going to one of our off-piste tours in Utah, Chile, or Japan. We build groups based on each riders ability, pairing participants with riders of similar skill, so regardless of your experience you’ll be in a group designed to match your pace.

This workshop is designed for the intermediate to advanced snowboarders who can safely turn on black groomed terrain. This workshop has a minimum participation of 4 persons to operate, if minimum participation is not met within 14 days of the start date you will receive a full refund.

Register 4 or more people on the same reservation and receive a $100 discount!

AASI Certified Instructors receive an additional discount please inquire.

Thursday

Meet at the Alpine Meadows Lodge at 8:30am. After a few warm up laps we’ll split into small groups and start exploring. We’ll begin by learning how to ride as a group, utilizing the buddy system so as we go deeper we’re able to support each other. We’ll spend the rest of the day exploring a variety of terrain elements; moguls, trees, steeps, etc. taking time to build skills in each environment.

Friday

Meet at  8:30am location TBD. This day we’re going to learn how to assess terrain before we get there, identify exit routes, and make a plan for safe navigation. Once we understand the terrain and a preferred route through each section, we’ll be flowing through it like champions.
