Trees. Moguls. Steeps. Build the tactics to explore more.
There’s a whole mountain beyond the groomed trail—and learning to ride it well requires more than taking the same turns somewhere more difficult.
Trees get tighter. Moguls disrupt your rhythm. Steeps challenge your confidence and speed control. Variable snow can change the plan entirely. Each environment presents a different problem, and becoming a stronger off-piste rider means developing the tactics to adapt.
Beyond the Groomers | Off-Piste 1.0 is a two-day off-piste snowboard workshop designed to expand your off-piste toolbox. Through personalized coaching, terrain exploration, and plenty of experimentation, you’ll learn how changes in turn shape, line, speed, timing, and movement can make challenging terrain feel more manageable—and a lot more fun.
What We’ll Explore
- Trees — Find lines, manage space and speed, and develop the awareness to ride confidently around natural obstacles.
- Moguls — Explore different ways through the bumps, adapt your turn shape and rhythm, and use the terrain instead of fighting it.
- Steeps — Develop tactics for managing speed, commitment, and turn shape when the pitch increases.
- Variable Terrain & Snow — Learn to recognize what the mountain is giving you and adjust your riding as conditions change.
- Line & Route Selection — Identify options that match your skills, understand where a route leads, and recognize places to stop, regroup, or change the plan.
- Riding Together — Develop simple communication and buddy-system habits that help your group move through off-piste terrain thoughtfully and efficiently.
You don’t need to already consider yourself an off-piste rider. Maybe you’re ready to venture into the trees for the first time, or perhaps you’ve been exploring the whole mountain for years but still find yourself battling the bumps or hesitating when things get steep. We’ll meet you where your riding is today, identify the terrain and tactics that offer the greatest opportunity for progression, and help you build skills you can take anywhere.
Because the more ways you know how to ride the mountain, the more mountain there is to explore.
This workshop has a minimum participation of 4 persons to operate, if minimum participation is not met within 14 days of the start date you will receive a full refund.

Thursday | Build Your Toolbox
Meet at Alpine Meadows at 8:30am for a light breakfast and introductions.
We’ll start on snow by getting to know your riding and exploring some of the movements we can use to adapt turn shape, speed, and rhythm as terrain changes.
From there, we’ll head beyond the groomers and put those movements to work. Throughout the day we’ll explore a variety of terrain—trees, moguls, steeps, and whatever conditions the mountain gives us—experimenting with different tactics and discovering where each one works best.
We’ll also introduce the habits that help a group move efficiently through off-piste terrain: identifying safe stopping points, maintaining visual contact, communicating intentions, and recognizing when the terrain ahead calls for a change of plan.
As the day progresses, we’ll use video and individualized feedback to identify where small changes can create more control, confidence, and flow.
Friday | Adapt & Explore
Meet at Alpine Meadows at 8:30am, ready to build on what we discovered on Day 1.
Today we’ll put more of the toolbox to work.
Working in small groups, we’ll seek out terrain that gives you opportunities to practice the tactics most relevant to your riding. That might mean finding a more efficient path through the bumps, experimenting with turn shape on a steeper pitch, building confidence in tighter trees, or learning to stay adaptable as snow and terrain change beneath you.
Along the way, your coach will begin turning more of the decision-making over to the group. You’ll practice looking ahead, identifying options, choosing appropriate places to stop, and recognizing when the tactic you’re using needs to change.
By the end of the workshop, the goal isn’t to have one perfect technique for riding off-piste. It’s to have more options—and a better understanding of when to use them, SO when the terrain changes, your riding can change with it.
