Iconic terrain. New challenges. Expand what’s possible.

Every great line starts before you drop in. What does the terrain tell you? What do the conditions tell you? Where does the line go, and what happens when it changes? Most importantly, what do your skills, and the skills of the people you’re riding with, tell you about the plan?

Big Lines | Off-Piste 2.0 is a two-day advanced off-piste snowboard workshop where the lines become the classroom. Together, we’ll explore some of Palisades Tahoe’s most inspiring terrain while learning how to gather information, make a plan, and blend the tactics you already have into more continuous, confident riding.

The objective isn’t to check famous lines off a list. Conditions, coverage, weather, and the capabilities of the group determine where we go. Sometimes the best classroom is a steep chute filled with chalky moguls. Other times it’s a long, exposed descent where maintaining flow and managing the terrain ahead becomes the challenge.

What We’ll Explore
  • Reading the Line — Learn to gather information about terrain, snow, exposure, entrances, exits, and potential challenges before committing to a descent.
  • Building a Plan — Identify the critical moments in a line, choose appropriate tactics, and recognize where you can regroup or adapt when things don’t go as expected.
  • Continuity & Flow — Connect turns, terrain features, and tactical choices into longer, more purposeful descents.
  • Blending Tactics — Draw from different turn shapes, movements, speed-control strategies, and terrain features as the demands of the line change.
  • Drops & Runouts — Explore how entrances, transitions, landings, and the terrain that follows influence the way you approach a feature.
  • Exploration & Discovery — Hike, traverse, and venture into terrain you may never have ridden before, developing the awareness to thoughtfully expand what you explore at Palisades—and anywhere else you ride.

Every group will experience Big Lines differently. The terrain we choose is determined by what the mountain gives us and where we see the greatest opportunities for progression.

You may finally ride a line you’ve looked at for years. You may discover terrain you never knew existed. Or you may ride somewhere familiar and see an entirely different way through it.

The goal isn’t simply to ride bigger terrain. It’s to develop the awareness, skills, and confidence to thoughtfully expand what’s possible.

This workshop has a minimum participation of 4 persons to operate, if minimum participation is not met within 14 days of the start date you will receive a full refund.

Thursday | Reading Ahead

Meet at Palisades Tahoe at 8:30am, ready to explore.

We’ll start by getting to know the group, warming up our riding, and assessing the conditions the mountain is giving us that day. From there, we’ll begin exploring how to look at a line before we ride it.

Throughout the day, we’ll seek out terrain that challenges us to gather information and make decisions. We’ll look at entrances and exits, snow conditions, exposure, terrain features, recovery zones, and the skills of the group—then use that information to build a plan.

Once we drop in, the focus shifts to continuity and flow. We’ll experiment with blending tactics, using the terrain to manage speed, and looking farther ahead so our decisions connect rather than happening one turn at a time.

Video feedback and group discussion will help us break down what worked, what changed along the way, and what we might do differently on the next line.

Day 2 | Expand the Map

Meet at Palisades Tahoe at 8:30am.

Today, we’ll put the process to work on an exploratory objective selected for the group and the conditions.

That may mean hiking to a classic Palisades descent, traversing into terrain you’ve never explored, or choosing a familiar zone that offers exactly the challenge we need. The destination matters—but understanding why we chose it is part of the experience.

Together, we’ll gather information, discuss options, and build a plan before committing. As we move through the terrain, you’ll take greater ownership of recognizing changes, selecting tactics, communicating with the group, and adapting the plan when necessary.

The goal is to experience a memorable line while developing a process you can repeat long after the workshop is over—at Palisades or anywhere else you ride.

We’ll finish the day with an après experience, sharing stories, celebrating breakthroughs, and reflecting on where your riding might take you next.

The mountain gets bigger when you know how to explore it.
